Who these terms are for

The app is for students, mentors, parents or guardians, teachers, partners, alumni, counselors, and admins who take part in STARS and BARS programmes in the UAE.

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must also give programme consent where the app asks for it.

Acceptable use

Use the app only for programme work: mentoring, learning, meetings, messages, documents, and school-related progress.

• Do not share another person’s private information without a clear programme reason.
• Do not try to access someone else’s account, school records, or files.
• Do not upload malware, scrape the service, or interfere with other people’s use.
• Do not use the app to sell products, run unrelated businesses, or send spam.

Messaging and community rules

Messages, meetings, journals, and comments must stay respectful and related to the programme.

• No harassment, hate, sexual content involving minors, threats, or encouragement of self-harm.
• No bullying, pile-ons, or shaming students in group chats or public posts.
• Mentors must keep professional boundaries with mentees, including on school-approved channels only.
• Do not share meeting links, join codes, or private documents outside the people who should see them.

Anti-bullying

Bullying, including repeated unkind messages, exclusion used as punishment, or public humiliation, is not allowed.

Report concerns to a school counselor or to us at the complaints email below. We may remove content, warn, suspend, or close accounts.

Moderation and suspension

School staff and admins may hide content, end meetings, suspend an account for a set time, or terminate an account when these terms or school rules are broken.

You will usually see the account status in Settings. Complaints about moderation can be sent to the email below.

Intellectual property

STARS and BARS own the app design, programme materials we publish, and our names and logos.

You keep rights in work you create (journal notes, uploads, survey answers). You give us permission to store and show that work inside the app for the programme, including to staff who already have a reason to see it.

Do not upload content you do not have the right to share.

Photos and public media

By agreeing to these terms you consent to STARS and BARS using your name, profile photo, and photos or videos you (or authorised staff) upload for the programme. That includes your in-app profile and public Achievements pages.

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian who also agrees to these terms gives the same consent. You can remove your profile photo in the app. To ask us to take down a public Achievement that shows you, email the complaints address below.

Staff must not publish your photo or name on public pages unless this agreement is in place. Meeting recordings are separate: live video is not saved in this version.

Staff access to accounts

Authorised admins and counselors may view all data on a programme account at any time. They do this by opening a supervised session with an admin or counselor key. During that session they see the account the same way the account holder would, including messages, files, journals, surveys, and progress records.

While a supervised session is open, a Supervised Session banner shows the name of the staff member accessing the account. That access is logged. Staff do not need your password. Do not share your password with anyone.

Wellbeing is not medical treatment

Mentoring, surveys, journals, and wellbeing tools are educational support. They are not medical, psychological, or emergency care.

If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services and your school counselor. Do not rely on the app as a crisis line.

Meetings

Meetings are live video only. This version does not record cameras, mics, or screen share.

You must not secretly record other people. Hosts and guests stay responsible for what they say and share on camera.
